Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Wildlife
The Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park is world renowned for its ‘Save the Rhino’ campaign in the early 60’s when less than 100 White Rhino’s remained in the wild. Today Hluhluwe-Imfolozi is home to the largest population of White Rhino in the World. The park provides refuge to an estimated 1,500 White Rhino and 360 Black Rhino.
Apart from the ‘Big 5’ (Buffalo, Elephant, Leopard, Lion and Rhino), the Hluhluwe iMfolozi Game Reserve, is home to a variety of other exciting animals which will make your safari so memorable. Other exciting animals include African Wild Dogs, Cheetah, Hyena, Giraffe, Wildebeest and an array of antelope including; Nyala, Bushbuck, Reed Buck, Kudu and Water Buck.
Safari Drives

Birding in the Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park

A Rhino Ridge Safari Lodge bush trail with the legendary ranger, Nunu Jobe, is a unique opportunity to get up real close to a white rhino. This highly experienced ranger is affectionately known as ‘The Rhino Whisperer’. He has a reputation of being able to get closer to a white rhino than anyone.

The gorge walk offered by Rhino Ridge Safari Lodge is carried out outside the Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park in the gorge below. The gorge walk explores the stunning riverine below the Lodge, outside of the ‘Big 5’ area. On foot explore and experience the sights, sounds and smells of the African bush.
