What I love about Klaserie Sands River Camp is their divine luxury suites. There are just four suites; two Standard Suites, a Honeymoon Suite and a Family Suite. They all have private patios with wonderful views over the riverbed or waterhole.

The luxury suites ooze charm and they are warmly decorated. The most comfortable beds make for an awesome night’s sleep. Trust me, you will sleep like a ‘log’.

Each suite is positioned in such a way as to enhance the bushveld experience. The luxury suites all have a private deck with views over the riverbed or the waterhole. Sitting on your patio enjoying the surroundings can easily be rewarded with visits from any of the local wildlife including elephants, the big cats and a variety of antelope. The birdlife is fantastic.

Every air-conditioned suite has overhead fans and mosquito nets. I love overhead fans they work best to keep any flying insects at bay. Remember you are in a malaria area, so you will need to get anti-malarial medication prescribed before you head off on safari to this region.

The Lodge

I think for me what makes Klaserie Sands River Camp so very special is that it is undoubtedly competing with the best lodges in the area, but it is not pretentious. You really do feel as part of the family, the management and staff are truly, so hospitable.

What brings the whole package together, is the way that the lodge offers a luxurious and exclusive experience, yet it feels so homely. The décor and ambiance created in the common areas truly do make one feel so relaxed and at ease.

The lodge features both indoor and outdoor dining facilities. There is a comfortable lounge and a library to brush up on some knowledge about the bush and its many inhabitants or simply chill and enjoy a drink at the bar, sharing stories with others.

The cuisine on offer at the lodge is typically South African and features a selection of specialities. Indulge in an authentic ‘off-site’ bush dinner; truly a magical experience. Enjoying a meal in the open air with a roaring bush fire is what Africa is all about.

The shaded decks and rim-flow pool is the perfect location to chill out and escape the afternoon sun.
